Artist Statement

From prehistory to present day, there has existed a universal current between art and the sacred.  As an artist, I immerse myself in that current.  Throughout my process, I am reflecting on creation realized through millions of years of evolution or in a simple moment by the hands of intention in an scientific experiment.

In my work, I sculpt and deposit pigments and textures in reference to the way nature and time leave their traces on the earth.  Colors, lines and shapes develop into an image or a structure, the body.  By assembling various objects and impressions, I create fossilized humanoids, genetically modified by the imagination.

As I dig into my intimate mythology, these humanoid creatures take form as archetypes or human hybrids, redesigned by random applications of the universal genome of materials and forms.  This is the flow of Life.  I see the body as a storehouse of unconscious knowledge and memory of its own life as well as generations past.  This is the structure of Life.
